TULSA, Okla. - Oral Roberts University was
swept by UCF on Friday afternoon, 7-0, at the Case Tennis
Complex.
The loss runs ORU's record to 1-13, while the Knights are now
9-10.
UCF opened the afternoon with two doubles victories. Mitch Thams
and Joe Delinks took an 8-3 decision over ORU's Nathaniel Avery and Alvaro Gutierrez at the top flight. Jorge Blasco and
Matthew Gladstone barely edged out Pedro Moreno and Parker Allen, 8-6.
In singles, UCF took straight sets wins on all five completed
courts. Erik Brunskrog opened the sweep with a 6-0, 6-2 win over
Gutierrez at the top spot, and Juan Bolona downed Allen on the
second court, 6-3, 6-3.
On the third court, Mario Samson scored a 6-1, 6-2 win over Moreno,
and Delinks took the fourth flight from Avery, 6-1, 6-0. On court
five, Gladstone knocked off Matthew Prevost, 6-0, 6-0.
The Knights also took a point by default on the sixth court.
ORU returns to action on Friday, April 20 for a Summit League match
against UMKC.
