OMAHA, Neb. - Missed opportunities were too
much for the Oral Roberts University women's soccer team to
overcome on Tuesday as the Golden Eagles fell to South Dakota 1-0
in Omaha, Nebraska.
ORU dropped to 3-9-3 overall and 2-4-0 in the conference, while
the Coyotes improved to 9-6-2 and 2-2-2 in the league.
The Coyotes scored the lone goal of the match in the
75th minute when Corey Strang slipped past the Golden
Eagle backline, getting a touch on the ball from five yards out
into an empty net.
Turning Point
In the 65th minute, the Golden Eagles had a chance to
take a 1-0 lead as USD was called for a hand ball inside the
penalty area. However, Coyote goalkeeper Mackenzie Viktor read the
penalty kick attempt by Ashley
Martin and made a diving save to keep the match scoreless.
