Oral Roberts University was shut out on Sunday morning, 7-0, by
Stephen F. Austin. The Golden Eagles are now 1-4 (0-3 Southland
Conference) on the season.
The Ladyjacks (4-5, 1-0 SLC) opened the morning by winning all
three doubles matches. Malena Gordo and Julia Lorca dropped Melanie
Marlin and Marizanne
Bouwer on the top court, 8-3, while Rachel Pierce and Laura
Servise defeated Haley
Martin and Ximena
Puentes by the same score in the second flight. On the third
court, Macarena Acosta and Denise Maxl were 8-2 winners over Nika
Munoz and Mairead
Cleary.
All six singles battles went the way of SFA. In the top flight,
Maxl knocked off Martin, 6-2, 6-2. Gordo handled Bouwer on court
two, 6-2, 6-3, and Lorca took down Marlin at No. 3, 6-2, 6-1.
The fourth court was won by Valeria Terentyeva, 6-2, 6-1 over
Puentes. Acosta won the fifth flight, 6-0, 6-1, over Munoz, and
Katerina Bugayenko scored a 6-1, 6-2 triumph over Cleary in the
sixth and final individual match.
ORU is back in action on Wednesday, March 12, when they head to
Louisiana for matches against Nicholls State and Xavier (La.).
