HINSDALE, Ill. – The Oral Roberts University men's tennis team dropped a heartbreaker late Friday night, 4-3, at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
The match was the fifth straight loss for ORU and the fourth this season by two points or less.
The Golden Eagles picked up an early point in doubles action with wins at the bottom of the order. However, UIC held off ORU and rallied in singles to steal the non-conference victory.
Match Recap
- The Golden Eagles battled at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to edge UIC 7-6 at both positions earning the first point of the match.
- Ciaran Lavers and Amar Saletovic won their fifth match of the season at No. 2 doubles improving to 5-3.
- Braxton Bates and Michael Sosnowski earned their first doubles win of the season with a 7-6 victory at No. 3 doubles.
- Alejandro Capdequi held off Chris Cole at No. 2 singles for a 6-1, 2-6, 6-2 win. It was the fourth win of the season for Capdequi and improved his overall record to 4-3 in singles action.
- The two singles wins for ORU went three sets as Michael Sosnowski won at the No. 5 position, 6-3, 2-6, 7-6.
