Box Score The Basics
Score: Oklahoma 2 - ORU 1
Records: OU (7-4-1), ORU (4-4-2)
Location: Case Soccer Complex - Tulsa, Okla.
TULSA, Okla. - Kaylee Dao scored the game-winner with three minutes remaining in the match to give the Sooners a 2-1 victory over the Oral Roberts women's soccer team Tuesday afternoon at the Case Soccer Complex.
The ORU defense held strong for much of the day, but Oklahoma (7-4-1) capitalized on their opportunities to pick up the narrow win.
Junior Brittney Lawrence scored the lone goal for the Golden Eagles (4-4-2) on a shot with her back turned to the net after a nifty pass from forward Kayla Keller. The Scarbrough, Ontario native pushed the ball past the arms of the OU keeper to give ORU the lead 14 minutes into play for her team-high fifth goal of the season.
Oklahoma answered just before halftime with a goal of their own to knot things up. After an all-out save by Maddie Rhodes in goal, the ball deflected to the middle of the box where OU's Lizzie Luallin scored the open net equalizer.
The Sooners would score the game-winner in the same fashion. As time dwindled down in the second half, Dao played a ball into the box off an ORU turnover and put it just past Ryliegh Bohnenstiehl in net.
Turning Point
OU's Luallin scored the open net goal in the 43rd minute to even the score at one apiece.
