WICHITA, Kan. - The Oral Roberts men's tennis team dropped it season opener, 7-0, Saturday afternoon at Wichita State.
 
The Golden Eagles dropped the doubles point to give Wichita State an early 1-0 advantage. ORU did claim a win at the No. 1 spot with Volodymyr Zakharov and Albert Chudy grabbing a 5-4 win. It was the pairs first win together in doubles action.
 
In singles play, Wichita State claimed the first point, 6-0, 6-1 over Meg Siritaworachan. Eddy Leardini fell at the No. 4 spot, 6-1, 6-1. Marcello Moreira fell at the No. 2 spot 6-1 in the first set, but then kept in close, 6-4, in set two. Albert Chudy fell in his first singles match in a Golden Eagle uniform, 6-2, 6-2. Volodymyr Zakharov dropped the No. 1 spot, 6-0, 6-1. Scott Hjelm was just edged in the first set at the No. 6 position, 6-4, and fell in set two, 6-2.
 
Up Next: The Golden Eagles will face the Oklahoma State Cowboys on January 18 at 2 p.m. in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
