VERMILLION, S.D. – South Dakota spoiled the Oral Roberts women's soccer team's trip to Vermillion by knocking off the Golden Eagles 4-1 on Sunday afternoon.
The Coyotes notched a goal in the fourth minute to take an early 1-0 advantage over ORU. In the 25
th minute,
Christa Van Loon evened the game at 1, scoring for the fourth time this season. Drishana Pilay and Mia Kiiterman picked up assists on the equalizer.
Shortly after, South Dakota took a 2-1 advantage, which they carried into halftime.
In the second half, the Coyotes another pair of goals to push their lead to 4-1. The Golden Eagles had scoring opportunities in the second half but were unable to capitalize, falling 4-1.
Notables
- Kitterman and Pillay both notched their first assists of the season on Van Loon's goal.
- Van Loon has scored in each of ORU's last three games and four of the last five overall.
- With two points in Sunday's match, Van Loon moves into sixth place in the Summit League with nine points (0.82 PPG). Van Loon is also fifth in the Summit League in goals scored.
- Louisa Ramsauer leads all Summit League goalkeepers with 63 saves on the season.
