TULSA, Okla. – In a Sunday night matchup against their crosstown rivals, the Oral Roberts women's soccer team (3-4-1) fell to the University of Tulsa (4-3-1) by a score of 2-1. The Golden Hurricane were consistent in launching shots, attempting 25 throughout the match.
Tulsa got on the scoreboard in the 11th minute to take an early 1-0 over the Golden Eagles. Despite ripping off 12 shots in the first half, the Golden Hurricane only managed to find the back of the net once, taking a one goal lead into the break.
After halftime, Tulsa added their second goal in the 68th minute to push their lead to two. Just nineteen second later, ORU responded and cut the deficit in half when
Mia Kitterman scored her first goal of the season. Kitterman used a great pass from
Samantha See to bring the game within one, giving See her fourth assist of the season.
The Golden Hurricane continued their offensive barrage into the closing minutes of the match. In the 88th minute, Tulsa nearly pushed their lead back to two goals but a miraculous save from
Jordyn Blackburn kept ORU within striking distance. Unfortunatley, the Golden Eagles could not capitalize on the opportunity, falling 2-1 on Sunday night.
