VERMILLION, S.D. – The Oral Roberts women's soccer team fell Sunday afternoon at South Dakota, 2-1, in Vermillion, South Dakota.

The Golden Eagles started the match strong with three shots on goal in the first 33 minutes. Samantha Guzman, Abril Lucio and Julia Thasaphong each had a chance to put ORU on top early in the match, but all shots on goal were saved by USD.

South Dakota scored first in the 33^rd minute. Shaylee Gallus connected for her fourth goal of the season to put the Coyotes up, 1-0. Her goal was unassisted. It was USD's lone shot on goal in the first half. The Golden Eagles had four total first half shots with three on goal.

In the second half, Guzman tied the match, 1-1, with her fifth goal of the season. She took the ball up the middle through the defenders and sent a missile shot to the left side of the goal from 25 yards out. Her goal was unassisted. It was one of six shots on goal for ORU in the second half.

In the 74^th minute, South Dakota took a 2-1 lead with an unassisted goal by Joana Zanin. The Golden Eagles didn't give up despite the deficit. With 11 minutes to play, Samantha See took a shot that was blocked, but she gathered the deflected ball and sent a shot on goal towards the net, but was denied. With one final chance for ORU in the final seconds, Jordyn Blackburn sent a high shot towards the goal from 20 yards out, but was just short and saved. The Golden Eagle defense held USD to just three shots on goal and did not allow the Coyotes a corner kick.
