TULSA, Okla. – Oral Roberts University Athletic Director Tim Johnson announced Wednesday morning that ORU Athletics would not renew the contract of women's basketball head coach Misti Cussen.

"Today I informed Coach Misti Cussen and our women's basketball program of our decision to not renew Coach Cussen's contract and that a change will be made in the head coach position effective immediately.
 
I would like to thank Coach Cussen for her 10 years of service as our head coach and her dedication to ORU for the past 26 years on our women's basketball coaching staff. I ask that the Golden Eagle family help me celebrate her contributions to Oral Roberts University. In her 26 seasons, Coach Cussen has impacted student-athletes with class on and off the court. We will forever be grateful for her hard work and commitment to ORU and all the student-athletes who have played for her. We wish Coach Cussen all the best as she has permanently placed her mark on ORU Athletics.
 
I am excited about the future of this team. After assessing the program, I have no doubt and I am confident ORU women's basketball will reach the peak of the Summit League. We are focused on elevating the program to compete at the highest level while building a championship culture and developing young women in mind, body, and spirit. We will begin a search nationwide for the next head coach of the women's basketball program immediately."
