TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts women's soccer team fell to St. Thomas, 1-0, Sunday afternoon at the Case Soccer Complex.
The Tommies scored the lone goal of the match in the fifth minute when Sofia Caballero snuck behind the defense to give St. Thomas the lead.
Despite the early goal, the Golden Eagles kept constant pressure on the Tommies in the first half, outshooting them 9-5.
Coming out of the break, ORU continued to make it difficult on the St. Thomas backline, winning the second half shot battle 6-2.
Senior
Kennedy Langebartels gave the Golden Eagles two great looks on the goal. The first came in the 37th minute as she settled a cross and fired at the goal, hitting the right post.
The second opportunity came in the 74th minute when Langebartels found the loose ball off a corner kick. She quickly gathered and shot, making it past the goalie but saved by defender Abby Branter, who volleyed it away.
The Tommies would survive ORU's second half efforts and escape with the win.
