KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Oral Roberts women's tennis team closed out the 2023 season with a 4-3 win Sunday on the road at Kansas City.
 
The Golden Eagles won all three doubles matches to begin the dual, 1-0. Sasha Lebedeva and Reagan Miley got things going with a 6-3 win at No. 2 followed by a win at No. 3 by Zere Iskakova and Arina Sorokina, 6-4, to claim the point. Chara Grammatikaki and Luna Morini also were victorious at the No. 1 position, 6-4.
 
ORU went up 2-0 in the dual winning the first singles match of the day. Iskakova gave the Golden Eagle the advantage with a 6-3, 6-0 win at the No. 6 spot. Grammatikaki followed up with a 6-3, 6-2 win over her own at No. 2 to make it a 3-0 dual score. Kansas City was able to come back and win three singles matches to tie the dual, 3-3. Luna Morini step up for ORU and claimed the victory for the Golden Eagles winning a three-set match at No. 3, 7-6, 3-6, 7-5.
 
"What a hard fought win by the ladies today in Kansas City," Head Coach Mark Milner said. "We started strong in doubles and quickly got two more points on the board by Zere and Chara. Luna did a phenomenal job in the deciding match by staying calm and playing to win. This is a special group that I truly love coaching. They always show up and work hard. They show grit, toughness and resilience. They are great examples of what ORU stands for."
