The Basics

CONWAY, Ark. - The Oral Roberts women's tennis team competed in its first fall tournament of the 2023-24 season at the UCA Invite September 15-16 in Conway, Arkansas.

Golden Eagle doubles pair Chara Grammatikaki and Luna Morini had a stellar weekend, going 3-0. Grammatikaki and Morini won round one over Central Arkansas, 6-2, round two against Murry State, 6-3, and round three over Murray State, 6-4. Abby Wise and Zere Iskakova claimed two doubles wins in rounds one and two over Harding and Arkansas Tech.

In singles play, Morini went 2-1 with wins in rounds one and three. In round one, she won 6-4, 6-1 against HU. She then won again with a dominating, 6-0, 6-1, match over Arkansas Tech.
In round one, Cassie Cervantes handled ATU winning 6-4, 6-4. Grammatikaki claimed a victory in round two defeating Central Arkansas 6-4, 6-3.

Luna Morini shined on the weekend, going 5-1 between singles and doubles matches.

"Overall, it was a great weekend at the UCA Invite for the Golden Eagles," said Head Coach Mark Milner. "It's nice to get off the practice court and compete against other universities. The goal for the weekend was to get good competition and find out more about ourselves and what we need to work on going forward, both of which we accomplished. The doubles team of Luna Morini and Chara Grammatikaki went 3-0 and Luna won 2 out of 3 in singles. We will take a few days off and then get back to the practice court to get ready for the next tournament."

Up Next: ORU will participate in the ITA Regionals October 12 – October 16 in Lawrence, Kansas.
