DENVER, Colo. – The Oral Roberts women's soccer fell to Denver, 1-0, in a hard fought matchup at the University of Denver Soccer Stadium Saturday night.

The Pioneers scored the lone goal of the match in the 16th minute as Riley Baker knocked in a cross from Lily O'Grady.

Both teams remained in a back and forth defensive battle for the rest of the night as the Pioneers came away with the win.

Defenders Gabrielle Abbey and Alani Chaple put up a stout defensive effort tonight for the Golden Eagles by making tackles, deflecting passes, and blocking shots.

Keeper Alexa Riefer made two crucial saves in the 80th and 82nd minute to give ORU an opportunity down the strecth. Each shot was aimed at the bottom right corner as Riefer dove to save them both.

ORU had four shots in the match with one on goal.

Riefer recorded three total saves on the evening for the Golden Eagles.

Abbey and Chaple played all 90 minutes for ORU.

Three Golden Eagles and one Pioneer received yellow cards in the high intensity contest.
