TULSA, Okla. – Battling winds upwards of 25 mph, the Oral Roberts men's golf team finished in second place at The Clerico, the annual tournament hosted by ORU.
Results
The three-round tournament took place on October 28 and 29 at the Oaks Country Club, featuring a par 70 course playing 6,950 yards. The 13-team field included some of the most premiere golf programs in the nation, such as #18 Duke, #30 Northwestern, and #36 Little Rock.
#50 Cameron Adam (67-70-70) of Northwestern captured the individual title shooting 3-under par. Adam was the only golfer to finish under par.
As a team, ORU finished 20-over par (283-281-296) in its best outing of the fall season. The Golden Eagles placed higher than two ranked programs (#18 Duke and #36 Little Rock). The tournament champion, #30 Northwestern Wildcats, finished the tournament 12-over par (284-289-279).
Gustav Liljeberg and
Presten Richardson finished tied with the highest individual scores for ORU. Liljeberg (73-65-75) and Richardson (65-71-77) were the only two golfers besides Northwestern's Daniel Svard to shoot a 65 in the tournament. The duo finished 3-over par and tied for fifth place
Kevin An finished 12-back of Liljeberg and Richardson tied for 17th. An (76-70-73) shot 9-over par for the tournament, capturing 10 birdies through three rounds of play.
Freshman
Sam Morris earned a top-25 finish in just his second collegiate tournament. A naitve of Jenks, Oklahoma, Morris (73-75-72) shot 10-over par and finished tied for 23
rd.
Rounding out ORU's starting five,
Christian Johnson (72-75-76) finished tied for 38
th, shooting 13-over par.
Individually, ORU had three golfers competing in the event.
Charlie Mooney (71-77-81) and
Philip Voetmann (72-83-74) finished tied for 63
rd, shooting 19-over par. Freshman
Ben Gratzl (78-78-81) finished 72
nd in his first collegiate tournament, shooting 27-over par.
