DENVER, Colo. – The Oral Roberts men's tennis team fell 4-3 to Metro State Thursday afternoon from Assembly Athletic Complex in Denver, Colorado.

The match opened with doubles play where the Roadrunners earned victories on courts one and two. ORU's pairing of Cayden Cheek and Ryan Holloway maintained control of their match, 5-3, on court three before it was cut short after MSU claimed the doubles point.

The Golden Eagles began to mount a comeback in singles play as Gustavo Pinho recorded his sixth win of the season defeating Metro State's Alejandro Jimenez 6-2, 6-4 on court one.

Cheek earned his third singles win of the year picking up another point for ORU. Cheek defeated Maximo Lawlor 6-4, 6-4 on court five.

Junior Ryan Holloway notched his sixth win of the season defeating MSU's Alessandro Munoz 1-6, 7-5, 6-3.

ORU pushed the Roadrunners to the edge, but Metro State was able to pick up three set wins on courts two and four to come away with the narrow 4-3 victory.

Up Next: The Golden Eagles will play their second match of the road trip tomorrow versus undefeated Denver at 1:00 p.m. central time from Denver Tennis Park.
