TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts men's golf program earned a seventh-place finish at The Clerico, which included one of the most stacked fields in college golf. The 12-team tournament featured four of the top 20 teams in the country and two of the nation's top 10 college golfers, along with 13 ranked among the top 75.
Southern Hills CC is a par 70 course that played 7,172 yards.
As a team, ORU finished forty-five over par (289-291-305) and earned seventh place.
Christian Johnson and
Ben Gratzl each recorded a top 25 finish. Auburn (#16) took home the team title, shooting eight over par (280-277-291). Josiah Gilbert (#61) claimed the individual title with a score of three-under (72-64-71). Gilbert was one of two players who finished in red figures.
Christian Johnson fired 71-76-72, earning a team-high finish at nine-over. His 72 in round three was five shots lower than the round three average (77.02).
Ben Gratzl tied for 25
th at eight over par (76-68-77). Gratzl's 68 (-2) in round two was ORU's lowest round of the tournament.
Gustav Liljeberg shot 75-70-77(+12), closing out The Clerico tied for 28
th.
Jorge Sanchez concluded The Clerico tied for 50
th with a score of twenty-one over par (71-81-79).
Phillip Voetmann rounded out the scoring for ORU, shooting 72-77-89 (+28). Voetmann placed tied for 61
st.
