SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Summit League announced postseason awards for women's soccer Wednesday morning. Senior Cameron Silva, redshirt junior Hannah Voskuhl, and Head Coach Austin Risenhoover highlighted the awards for ORU.
Silva took home Midfielder of the Year honors. The Manteca, California native, led the team with 10 assists and finished second in scoring with 5 goals and 20 points. She started nearly every match and was the Golden Eagles' main creator, setting up teammates all season and scoring when it counted. Her penalty kick at Omaha was the game-winner in the match that clinched the outright title. She is also a First Team All-Summit League and All-Newcomer Team selection.
Voskuhl was named the league's Defensive Player of the Year. A redshirt junior from Edmond, Oklahoma, played in all 19 matches this season for a back line that allowed just 10 goals and recorded 10 shutouts. She scored a game-winning goal in the Golden Eagles' 3-0 win over St. Thomas on Oct. 2. She was also named to the All-Summit League First Team.
Risenhoover was named Coach of the Year after leading ORU to an unbeaten conference season and the program's outright regular season title. The Golden Eagles outscored opponents 40-10, averaging 2.11 goals per game while allowing 0.53, and recorded 10 shutouts in 19 matches. Oral Roberts went 8-1-1 at home and 6-0-3 on the road, and it also kept the Mayor's Cup for a fourth straight season. Risenhoover earned his 50th career win on Oct. 15 against North Dakota State.
Silva and Voskul join Brianna Castleberry and Precious Edosa on the All-Summit League First Team. Genesis Helseley, Amaris Hamilton-Grein, and Carys Torgesen earned Second Team honors. Junior defender Savannah Spielman was an Honorable Mention. Layney Molini, Alyson Sebban, and Silva were named to the All-Newcomer Team.
Castleberry led the Golden Eagles with 13 goals, the third most in a single season in ORU history. She added 3 assists for 29 points, which also led the team. Five of her goals were game-winners, tying the program single-season record. She scored on all three of her penalty-kick attempts and put 29 of her 54 shots on target. She is a First Team selection for the second consecutive years.
A back-to-back First Team selection, Edosa scored the game-winning penalty kick on Senior Night against Kansas City, which clinched at least a share of the regular season title and the right to host the tournament. She played 18 matches this season in the heart of a defense that allowed 10 goals.
Helsley finished with 2 goals and 8 assists for 12 points, second on the team in assists. She set up goals for Silva at South Dakota State, Castleberry against Tulsa and Alaina Trevino at St. Thomas, and scored her first goal of the year in a 5-0 win at Little Rock.
A transfer from South Florida, Hamilton-Grein scored 4 goals with 2 assists. She put 17 of her 24 shots on target (.708), the best accuracy among the team's regular scorers. She opened the scoring at Omaha on Oct. 29, in the game that clinched the outright title.
A four-year contributor with more than 60 career appearances, Torgesen played in 18 matches this season in the midfield. Spielman appeared in 17 matches on a back line that allowed 10 goals all season and 5 in conference play.
Molini played in all 19 matches. She scored 2 goals and added an assist, with 17 shots. One of her goals was the game-winner in the 85th minute at South Dakota State, which completed a comeback in a 2-1 win. A freshman, Sebban went 11-1-4 with 8 shutouts, a 0.56 goals-against average and a .813 save percentage, with 39 saves in 1,440 minutes. She saved a penalty kick against Oklahoma and made seven saves against Baylor.
