Austin Risenhoover

WITH THE GOLDEN EAGLES
Coach Risenhoover has made an immediate impact in his Four seasons with ORU. Risenhoover has led the Golden Eagles to three Summit League Championship matches (2022,2024,2025). ORU has made the Summit League tournament every year under Risenhoover.

In his first year at the helm, ORU won 10 games and advanced all the way to the Summit League Championship match for the first time since 2016 before falling in PKs.

After instant success in year one, the Golden Eagles returned with high expectations for year two of the Risenhoover era. ORU made noise early in the season, defeating Tulsa, 2–1, for the first time in 16 years. Two weeks later, the Golden Eagles made another statement by beating Kansas State, 2–1, marking Risenhoover’s first Power Five win as a head coach and ORU’s first since 2012. The Golden Eagles won eight games on the year and advanced all the way to the Summit League semifinals.

After failing to reach the Summit League Championship match in 2023, the Golden Eagles returned with one goal in mind for the 2024 season. ORU opened the year with a grueling non-conference schedule, starting the season 2–5–1. However, the Golden Eagles righted the ship and went 6–1–1 over their next eight matches. ORU entered the Summit League Tournament as a red-hot No. 5 seed and once again made noise. The Golden Eagles defeated No. 4 Omaha in the quarterfinals before knocking off No. 1 North Dakota State in penalty kicks in the semifinals. ORU advanced to its second championship match in three years but ultimately fell to the defending champions, South Dakota State.

The 2025 season proved to be a record-breaking year for ORU women’s soccer under Risenhoover. The Golden Eagles opened non-conference play with a 7–4–1 record before entering Summit League play undefeated until the final regular-season match, finishing conference action at 6–1–1 and being crowned Summit League Regular Season Champions. ORU entered the Summit League Tournament as the No. 1 seed and knocked off UMKC in the semifinals to advance to its third championship match in under four years but once again fell short against South Dakota State. Risenhoover was named the 2025 Summit League Coach of the Year.

In just three seasons under Risenhoover, ORU has produced one Offensiver Player of the Year, five First Team All-League selections, five Second Team selections, seven Honorable Mention honorees, five All-Newcomer selections, ten Players of the Week, four Academic All-League honorees, seven All-Tournament selections, and one Scholar of the Championship.
