Tulsa, Okla. -- The Oral Roberts University volleyball team beat Mid-Con foe Valparaiso 3-1 tonight (32-30, 26-30, 30-27, 30-17). The Golden Eagles continue to have an unblemished all-time standing (45-0) against Mid-Con opponents at home.

Senior right-side hitter Patricia Menezes led all players with 16 kills and completed the double-double with 16 digs. Senior middle blocker Ivana Placko had a phenomenal .560 hitting percentage with 15 kills and one error on 25 attempts. Placko also contributed six blocks.

Senior setter Anna Moreno made a huge leap toward breaking the ORU all-time assist record with 58 assists. She has a career total 3,191 assists and needs only 26 assists in tomorrow's match against IUPUI to break the record.

Sophomore libero Becky Dreher continues to play tremendous defense, as she collected 26 digs tonight. Senior outside hitter April Syko also had a double-double tonight with 11 kills, 13 digs and six blocks. Sophomore middle blocker Celeste Jones had 10 kills, five blocks and two service aces. Senior outside hitter Lindsey Engel had 11 kills.

ORU (8-6, 2-0 Mid-Con) outhit Valparaiso (9-5, 1-1 Mid-Con) .297-.199 and also outblocked them 13-7. The victory tonight gives ORU an 84-3 record at home over the past eight years.

The Golden Eagles are back in action tomorrow as they take on IUPUI in more conference action at 7 p.m. at the ORU Aerobics Center. ORU also plays on Sunday against non-conference opponent Drake.

Other Notables: April Syko moved up the ORU career list in several categories tonight. Syko played in four games tonight, giving her 353 for her career and moving her into sixth place all-time. She also had 13 digs, giving her 766 for her career and moving her into eighth place all-time. Finally, she had one block solo, giving her 46 for her career and tieing her for eighth place all-time.

Anna Moreno needs only 26 assists in tomorrow's match to become the ORU career leader in assists.
