Long Beach, Calif. --
A hard-fought first game was not enough for the Oral Roberts
University volleyball team to beat #5 Long Beach State today, as it
dropped its final match in the Long Beach State Mizuno Invitational
(23-30, 20-30, 17-30).
"It was a disappointing loss for us with the fact that we didn't
compete through the entire match," Head Coach Amy Farber Knowles
said. "The first game was awesome. We played them point for point,
but we lost a couple points and started to panic. Had we maintained
our composure it could have gone either way."
Patricia Menezes had 11 kills and three block assists in the Golden
Eagles' loss to the 49er's.
Anna Moreno had 31 assists and 10 digs, while April Syko had 10
kills.
Becky Dreher added 11 digs to the Golden Eagle stats.
ORU moves to 2-1 on the year, after beating Dayton and Baylor on
Friday.
The Golden Eagles are back in action next Friday as they face
Brigham Young on the opening day of the Brigham Young University
Invitational.
