Fayetteville, Ark. -- The Oral Roberts University
volleyball team lost to No. 17 Colorado State today (30-15, 30-27,
30-24) at the Morning News Invitational held at the University of
Arkansas.
Senior outside hitter April Syko led the Golden Eagles with a .333
hitting percentage (12-4-24) and three block assists. Sophomore
libero Becky Dreher had 16 digs, while senior setter Anna Moreno
collected 32 assists.
Colorado State came out with a blistering .621 hitting percentage
and 20 kills in game one. Game one brought the worst losing margin
of the season for ORU, as they dropped the game 30-15.
ORU led the way in game two, trailing only four times. The Golden
Eagles pulled ahead 26-20 on five straight points, but managed only
one more point before the Rams won 30-27. ORU held Colorado State
to a .064 hitting percentage in game two.
Game three was close throughout, but Colorado State scored five
straight points to go up 29-23 and eventually won 30-24.
ORU moves to 5-4 on the season. Their other losses were to No. 5
Long Beach State, No. 6 Florida and Arkansas. Colorado State
improves to 5-3.
The ORU volleyball team is back in action tonight as they face
Louisville, who received AVCA top 25 votes this week, at 5 p.m. in
their final match of the Morning News Invitational.
