Provo, Utah -- The Oral Roberts University volleyball team beat Wake Forest in four games (30-25, 20-30, 30-25, 30-25) in its final match of the Brigham Young University Mizuno Classic today in Provo, Utah.

Senior outside hitter Patricia Menezes led the Golden Eagle charge with her third double-double of the season with 17 kills and 12 digs against the Demon Deacons. She also had three block assists. Menezes was named to the all-tournament team for her efforts over the weekend. Senior setter Anna Moreno had a career-high 11 kills with one error on 18 attempts (.556 hitting percentage) to go along with 49 assists and three service aces.

Sophomore middle blocker Celeste Jones smashed in 15 kills with five errors on 30 attempts (.333 hitting percentage). Seniors April Syko and Ivana Placko had 10 kills each. Senior outside hitter Lindsey Engel had a career-high 12 digs and added two block assists.

ORU (4-2 overall) finished the weekend tournament 2-1 after a win over Brigham Young yesterday (30-28, 30-27, 30-16) and a loss to No. 6 Florida earlier today (30-19, 22-30, 30-16, 30-25). Florida was the 2001 SEC Champion and advanced to the 2001 NCAA Regional Semifinals. Brigham Young was ranked No. 23 in the AVCA preseason poll.

Menezes had 13 kills and 13 digs in the loss to Florida. Moreno added 42 assists, 10 digs and four service aces to her season stats. Jones put down 12 kills and added two block assists. Sophomore libero Becky Dreher led the defense with 18 digs. Syko had nine kills, eight digs and two service aces. Placko had nine kills and two blocks.

The ORU volleyball team is back in action on Tuesday as they travel to Norman, Okla., to face Oklahoma at 7 p.m.

Other notables: Moreno's seven service aces today moved her into third place on the ORU career charts. Moreno has 139 aces in her careeer. Syko's 16 digs today moved her into ninth place on the ORU career charts. Syko has 710 digs in her career.
