TULSA--Maureen Obudho (Mombassa, Kenya) and Cori Williston (Tulsa, OK) combined for 35 points, but a 9-0 run midway through the second half helped propel Tulsa to a 67-60 victory over Oral Roberts in the annual Mayor's Cup game, Monday at the Reynolds Center.

The win improves Tulsa to 2-0, while ORU drops to 1-3 with the loss.

With the game tied at 44-44 with 8:34 to play, TU (2-0) used a nine point spurt over the next 2:27 for a 53-44 advantage. Megan Moody's layup with 8:18 to play broke the tie and Candice Brewer followed with a three-point play for a 49-44 TU lead with 7:30 left.

Sarah Lunberg's 3-pointer with 6:51 to go made it 52-44, and Jillian Robbins capped the game-breaking run with a free throw at 6:07. ORU never got any closer than seven points the rest of the way as Tulsa won for just the third time in the 27-game history of the series.

The Golden Eagles led 33-26 at halftime, and held a 38-30 lead with 15:52 remaining in the game. But ORU shot just 37.5 percent in and committed 11 turnovers in the second half.

ORU held a 41-37 rebound advantage.

Williston who did not start due to flu-like symptoms, was 6-of-8 from the field and 3-for-3 on 3-pointers. Obudho was 8-of-11 from the field and also had nine rebounds, three steals, two blocks and two assists.

ORU returns to action against Kansas Newman, 7:05 p.m., Saturday at the Mabee Center.
