TULSA -- The Oral Roberts University volleyball
team defeated Oakland University 3-0 (30-13, 30-11, 30-28) in ORU's
first Mid-Continent Conference match of the season Friday evening
at ORU's Cooper Aerobics Center.
The 11 points scored by Oakland in game two represented the fewest
by an ORU opponent since ORU held the same Oakland squad to 10 last
season on Oakland's home court.
Freshman outside hitter Ori Zuzic led ORU with 16 kills and a
hitting percentage of .542. Zuzic also had four service aces.
Freshman outside hitter Cris Alves led ORU with five service aces.
Freshman setter Maura Cicala tossed up 45 assists. Junior libero
Becky Dreher had 16 digs.
With the victory, ORU improved to 8-9, while Oakland dropped to
1-9. ORU returns to action at 7:00 Saturday evening when the Golden
Eagles take on Mid-Continent Conference front-runner
Valparaiso.
