TULSA, Okla. €" The Oral Roberts volleyball team
came up short in a battle with rival Tulsa Tuesday night, dropping
their season finale 3-1 (30-32, 30-20, 27-30, 22-30) at the Donald
W. Reynolds Center.
The Golden Eagles (19-15) entered the night leading the all-time
series 56-10 over their opponents from 11th and Harvard, but Joyce
Silva's 33 kills led the Golden Hurricane (17-10) to a four game
victory. It marked the first time since 1993 that TU claimed a
victory in the cross-town rivalry.
ORU All-American candidate Becky Dreher (Prince George, British
Columbia, Canada) ended her career with a 23 dig effort to bring
her season total to 821. Dreher is the first player in NCAA history
to record 800 digs in a single season. She also set a new NCAA mark
with her 7.02 digs per game average.
Dreher finishes her celebrated ORU career as one of the best
defensive players in NCAA history. She leaves with the nation's top
digs per game average for a career (5.22) and places third on the
NCAA's all-time digs list (2,246).
Sophomore outside hitter Ori Zuzic (Porec, Croatia) led the Golden
Eagles offense with 19 kills to go along with 11 digs, as she
notched her team-high 14th double-double of the year. Sophomore
middle blocker Kim Snow (DeKalb, Illinois) added 11 kills in the
loss.
