MACOMB, IL�€"Western Illinois scored 29 points off 22 Oral Roberts turnovers as the league-leading Westerwinds handed the Golden Eagles a 71-46 defeat in Mid-Continent Conference play, Saturday at Western Illinois.

The Westerwinds (16-7, 10-2) stretched their home winning streak to 26 games thanks to a stingy defense and an opportunistic offense. Western placed three players in double figures in scoring, led by Rita Castans' 17 points.

ORU (11-11, 5-6) led for much of the early part of the first half and trailed 24-21 with 5:17 remaining in the first half before Western closed the half with a 15-6 run for a 39-27 halftime lead.

In the second half, Western quickly jumped out to a 46-32 lead and kept the lead between 15 and 25 points the rest of the way.

Western's defense limited ORU to 38.3 percent shooting for the game, including 33.3 percent in the second half. ORU made just two three-pointers and was only 8-of-14 from the line.

Elisha Turek (Council Bluffs, Iowa) led ORU with 15 points and nine rebounds, the only Golden Eagle to reach double digits in scoring. Turek has now scored in double figures in 14 consecutive games.

The Golden Eagles return to action when they visit Valparaiso, 7 p.m., Monday.
