Pre-season Mid-Con favorite ORU overcame a pesky
Oakland squad
in the first two games and then routed the Golden Grizzlies in the
third to earn its first
conference win of the season, 3-0 (31-29, 30-28, 30-11)
Sunday.
ORU (6-9, 1-1) hit .208 as a team for the match, including a
blistering .467 in the
decisive third game. Ori Zuzic again led the way with 12 kills,
while Becky Brunelle
contributed nine and a .350 attack percentage. Maja Devic also
proved to be efficient,
hitting a team-high .357 (6 kills, 1 error, 14 attempts) for the
Golden Eagles.
Oakland (3-9, 1-1) struggled in game three (-.217 attack
percentage) and hit just .067
for the match in suffering its first conference loss of the
season.
Brittany Arnold also added 22 assists and Becky Dreher contributed
a team-high 20
digs for ORU, who returns home to face Utah Valley State Wednesday
at 7 p.m. The
Golden Eagles have played the last 11 matches on the road.
