Maja Devic added 10 to lift Oral Roberts to a 3-0
(30-21, 30-22, 30-23) win over North Texas in the first round of
the ORU Volleyball Classic at the Cooper Aerobics Center here
Friday evening.
ORU (1-1), coming off a 3-0 loss at No. 14 Kansas State Wednesday,
hit .260 as a team. Devic hit an impressive .348, Zuzic hit .333
and Kim Snow had eight kills and hit .400. Seniors
Becky Dreher and Becky Brunelle
contributed 20 and 14 digs respectively, while setters
Brittany Arnold (26 assists) and Maura
Cicala (22 assists) also played well in leading the Golden
Eagles to their first win of the 2004 season.
North Texas (0-2) hit just .062 as a team. The Mean Green Eagles
were led by Katy Prokof's seven kills.
Kansas defeated Loyola-Chicago 3-1 in the first match of the day.
The ORU Classic continues with four games Saturday, beginning at 10
a.m. ORU plays at 12:30 against Loyola-Chicago and 7:30 versus
Kansas.
