TULSA, Okla. €" The Oral Roberts University
volleyball team used a 10-1 run in game five to close out a 3-2
(16-30, 30-28, 30-21, 26-30, 15-7) victory over Valparaiso Friday
night at the Aerobics Center. With the win, the Golden Eagles
snapped the Crusaders 21-match conference win streak and pulled the
two teams into a tie atop the Mid-Continent Conference
standings.
ORU (12-8, 5-1) held on to a 4-3 lead in game five when they reeled
off four straight points to extend their lead to 8-3. After a
Golden Eagle attack error brought Valpo (15-5, 5-1) to within four
(8-4), the home squad ripped off another six straight to go ahead
14-4, en route to their 15-7 match-clinching win.
ORU's win also ended the Crusaders 19-match road conference win
streak.
Outside hitter Ori Zuzic (Porec, Croatia) led the
Golden Eagle attack with 18 kills to go along with 18 digs,
recording her 11th double-double effort of the year. Libero
Cris Alves (Sao Caetano, Brazil) anchored the
defense with 24 digs as ORU limited Valpo to a mere .109 attack
percentage on the night.
After falling behind 1-0 early, the Golden Eagles collected wins in
games two and three to give them a 2-1 advantage. But the Crusaders
refused to go away quietly, as they rallied to take game four 30-26
to force the deciding fifth game.
Rightside hitter Jackie Oliveira (Minas Gerais,
Brazil) finished the night with nine kills and 21 digs, and middle
blocker Maja Devic (Split, Croatia) connected on
nine markers while hitting a team-high .444.

match-high 28 digs.
ORU will return to action on Saturday night when they host Oakland
in a 7:00 p.m. conference tilt at the Aerobics Center. Admission to
