DENTON, Texas �€" Ori Zuzic (Porec,
Croatia) and Jackie Oliveira (Minas Gerais,
Brazil) both recorded double-doubles as Oral Roberts stepped out of
conference play and topped North Texas 3-0 (30-14, 31-29, 30-24) in
volleyball action Thursday night.
The Golden Eagles (14-8) took control of the match early,
committing a mere three errors in 30 attacks en route to a .357
hitting percentage in game one. The defense was up to task as well,
limiting the Mean Green (8-16) to a .031 attack percentage as ORU
took game one 30-14 and never looked back.
For Zuzic, it was her 12th double-double effort of the season, as
she finished the match with 14 kills and 10 digs. Zuzic also added
a match-high four service aces. Oliveira's match-high 15 kills and
12 digs marked the ninth double-double of her freshman
campaign.
As a team, the Golden Eagles only hit .168 for the match, but their
defense was stifling, combining for 57 digs and 10 blocks as the
home squad hit no better than .111 in any of the three games.
Libero Cris Alves (Sao Caetano, Brazil) led the
defense with a match-high 19 digs.
Katy Prokof led the Mean Green with 12 kills, while Ashley Bass had
a match-high 29 assists.
ORU will put its five-match conference win streak on the line
tomorrow night as they return to Mid-Con action with a 7:00 p.m.
match at Centenary. The Golden Eagles won the season's previous
meeting in Tulsa, 3-0.
