KANSAS CITY, Mo. �€" Four Golden Eagles registered
double-figure kills as the Oral Roberts University volleyball team
topped UMKC, 3-1 (30-25, 32-30, 24-30, 30-22), at the Swinney Rec
Center in Mid-Continent Conference action Friday night. ORU (16-8,
8-1) have now won eight straight conference tilts, and 11 of 13
matches overall.
Middle blocker Kim Snow (DeKalb, Ill.) led the
Golden Eagles attack with 14 kills, while middle blocker
JoJo Souza (Sao Paulo, Brazil) chipped in with 12
kills and hit a team-high .435.
Outside hitter Ori Zuzic (Porec, Croatia) has now
reached double-figure kills in 15 consecutive matches, as she
finished the night with 11 markers. Zuzic, who entered the contest
ranked 3rd nationally in aces per game, added three aces and 10
digs for ORU.
The Golden Eagles out-hit the Kangaroos (6-19, 4-6) .242 to .167 on
the night, including a match-low .087 in game four. UMKC totaled
more blocks and digs than ORU, but registered 33 attack errors
compared to the visitors 23.
Rightside hitter Jackie Oliveira (Minas Gerais,
Brazil) recorded her 10th double-double with 12 kills and 10
digs.
ORU will take a day off before visiting conference foe Western
Illinois on Sunday evening at 6:00 p.m.
