LITTLE ROCK, Ark. �€" The Oral Roberts University
volleyball team snapped Arkansas-Little Rock's six match winning
streak as the Golden Eagles downed the Trojans 3-0 (30-27, 30-28,
30-22) at the Jack Stephens Center on Tuesday evening.
Outside hitter Ori Zuzic (Porec, Croatia) led ORU
(7-6) with 15 kills as she recorded a mere two attack errors in 32
attempts for a .406 attack percentage. Zuzic also added nine digs
on the defensive end.
The Golden Eagles seemed to have game one in hand with a 29-24 lead
until Arkansas-Little Rock (10-6) scored three straight points to
bring it within 29-27. ORU put out the Trojan rally with a Zuzic
kill for the 30-27 game one win.
It was UALR who held the late lead in game two, holding a 28-26
advantage over the visitors. A kill by outside hitter
Danijela Novakovic (Rijeka, Croatia) cut the
deficit to one, then a pair of Trojan errors gave the Golden Eagles
a 29-28 lead. Middle blocker Kim Snow (DeKalb,
Ill.) added a solo block to seal game two for ORU, 30-28.
Novakovic ended the match with seven kills, while Snow had seven
markers in addition to tying her career-high with eight blocks.
The Golden Eagles closed out the match by hitting .282 as a team in
game three and limited UALR to a paltry .190 attack percentage in
cruising to the 30-22 match clinching win.
Amila Baracovic led the Trojan attack as she connected on a
match-high 20 kills and recorded a .410 (20-4-39) attack
percentage.
Rightside hitter Jackie Oliveira (Minas Gerais,
Brazil) chipped in with eight kills, 11 digs, and four services
aces for ORU, while setter Thais Parada (Sao
Paulo, Brazil) finished the match with 35 assists.
The Golden Eagles will step back in Mid-Con action this weekend, as
they will play host to Western Illinois and UMKC. ORU will take on
the Westerwinds at 5:00 p.m. on Friday before taking on the
Kangaroos Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. Admission to both matches at
the Cooper Aerobics Center is free.
