MILWAUKEE, Wisc. ?" The Oral Roberts University volleyball
team saw its 15-
match win streak come to an end Wednesday night, as they fell in
three straight
games (30-16, 30-24, 30-27) on the road at the University of
Milwaukee-
Wisconsin. With the loss, the Golden Eagles fall to 17-7 on the
year.
Kim Snow (DeKalb, Ill.) paced ORU with 12 kills
and hit .450,
but it wasn?t enough as the Panthers (14-5) hit .297 as
a team while limiting the
visitors to a .175 mark.
The Golden Eagles came out flat in game one, hitting just .057 with
nearly as
many errors (12) as kills (14). UWM took advantage of the visitors
slow start
with a 13-4 lead and hit a collective .458 in their wire-to-wire
30-16 win.
ORU looked to bounce back in game two, taking a 20-18 lead on a
Danijela Novakovic (Rijeka, Croatia) kill. The
Panthers quickly
took the momentum back, however, using a 7-0 spurt to take control
at 25-20.
The Golden Eagles pulled back to within 29-24, but the home side
held court with
a 30-24 victory to take a two games to none lead.
With their backs to the wall in game three, the Golden Eagles
battled with the
Panthers through 13 ties and eight lead changes as they looked to
force a game
four. ORU held a late 27-26 lead, but UWM responded by recording
the final four
tallies for the 30-27 match-clinching win.
Novakovic finished the match with 10 kills while hitting .421 and
Jackie
Oliveira (Minas Gerais, Brazil) added eight markers of
her own.
The Golden Eagles will remain on the road for a pair of weekend
matches,
beginning with a Friday night contest at Chicago State.
