TULSA, Okla. - The Oral Roberts
(0-0-1) men's soccer team started their regular season with a 0-0
tie against Missouri State (0-0-1) on Friday night in Springfield,
Missouri.
Although it was a scoreless affair
both teams combined to fire off 38 shots, with 18 coming from the
Golden Eagles. Senior goalkeeper Carlos Veron
(Asuncion, Paraguay) had a steller performance in the net recording
eight saves that Missouri State spread out throughout the 110
minute match. Veron had two key stops in the two overtime periods
to give ORU the tie.
MSU's keeper Lance Parker had four
saves from ORU's 18 total shot.
Jesse Roque (El Paso, Texas) and Miguel
Peralta (Tulsa, Okla.) each had three shots and five ORU
players had two shots.
The regular season opener for both
teams was a very aggresive one as ORU and MSU combined for 42 fouls
with the Golden Eagles recieving two Yellow Cards.
ORU will return to play their regular
season home opener on Sunday against another Missouri Valley
Conference opponent, Drake University. The game is slated at 2 p.m.
at the ORU Soccer Complex.
