TULSA, Okla. - Drake University
scored three goals en route in defeating Oral Roberts 3-0, spoiling
the Golden Eagles home opener played on a rain soaked ORU Soccer
Complex on Sunday afternoon.
Keith Gorczyca starred for Drake as
he netted two goals, one being the game-winner at the 46 minute
mark. Gorczyka put the Bulldogs ahead for good after his first shot
got blocked by an ORU defender but came right back to him to nail
his second chance pass keeper Carlos Veron
(Asuncion, Paraguay).
It stayed that way, with both teams
trying to keep their footing, until the 85:55 mark when Luke
Gorczyca found the back of the net off a corner kick from Luke
Frieberg. Less than two minutes later Keith Gorczyka scored his
second of the day.
Drake outshot ORU by a 16-9 margin
with Drake's keeper Phillip Breuer recording four stops and Veron
having six saves.
The Golden Eagles fall to 0-1-1 on
the young season while Drake improves to 2-0-0.
ORU will return to action on the
road to play in the Memphis Diadora Tournament next Friday, opening
the tournament with Clemson and play Cal State-Fullerton on
Sunday.
