€" The Oral Roberts University
men€™s soccer team (3-5-2, 1-2-0) saw their two
game winning streak come to a halt against conference foe, UMKC, in
a 2-1 defeat on Saturday afternoon.
The Kangaroos got
on the leader board first as UMKC€™s Ryan
Kaufman took advantage of a penalty kick at the 40:20 mark and
buried the ball in the net, past ORU€™s
goalkeeper Carlos Veron (Asuncion, Paraguay).
That was all the
scoring in the first frame as UMKC out shot ORU 8-6 and held a 4-1
advantage in corner kicks.
The Golden Eagles
battled back in the second half as midfielder Jesse
Roque (El Paso, Texas) had his original shot off of a
penalty kick blocked by UMKC€™s goalkeeper
Brandon Amaya, but Roque had the rebound come right back to him and
he did not let the second opportunity get away as he tied the game
at 1-1.
UMKC went down a
man at the 54:08 mark with a red card given to John David
Hernandez. The Kangaroos took advantage of the short-handed
opportunity as Garret Guthrie sneaked his shot past

Bryan Perez and Caleb Mitchell were credited with the assists.
Despite coming up
short in the loss, ORU out played UMKC in the second frame. The
Golden Eagles held a 12-5 advantage in shots and had six corner
kicks to UMKC€™s zero.
