TULSA�€"Oral Roberts University shot a season-high 65.9
percent from the field and three players scored in double figures
as the Golden Eagles stretched their winning streak to nine games
with a 77-66 Mid-Continent Conference victory over IUPUI, Saturday
at Mabee Center.
Caleb Green (Tulsa, Okla.) led all scorers with 22
points, extending his double-digit scoring streak to 51 games.
Green also grabbed 11 rebounds for his 57th career
double-double �€" his 11th this season
�€" as well as his 32nd career 20-10
game.
The
Golden Eagles (15-7, 7-0) remained perfect in Mid-Con play and
their nine-game winning streak is the program�€™s
longest since also winning nine in a row under former head coach
Bill Self in 1996-97.
ORU
needed the hot shooting against the pesky Jaguars (9-11, 3-4), who
went 22-of-24 (91.7 percent) from the free throw line and converted
18 Golden Eagles�€™ turnovers into 17 points. The
Golden Eagles out-rebounded IUPUI, 32-19, and shot 80 percent
(12-15) from the field in the second half in game which featured 45
fouls.
Marchello Vealy (Oklahoma City, Okla.) came off
the bench with 18 points for ORU, going 6-of-7 from the field,
including a pair of three-pointers. Vealy also added three
rebounds, two assists and two blocks.
Ken Tutt (Garland, Texas) chipped in with 12
points for the Golden Eagles.
Austin
Montgomery led the Jags with 16 points, while Gary Patterson added
11 and Angelo Smith chipped in with 10.
The
Golden Eagles put their perfect conference record and nine-game
winning streak on the line when they visit Valparaiso, 7:05 p.m.,
Thursday, Feb. 1.
