TULSA -
Miguel Peralta had three assists and Niger
Portillo scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal as
Oral Roberts University defeated UMKC, 3-1, in conference action on
Saturday night at the ORU Soccer Complex.
ORU improves to 5-9-0 overall and 2-2-0 in The Summit League, while
UMKC falls to 6-6-3 overall and 1-2-1 in conference play.
ORU grabbed an early lead in the first-half on a goal by Nikola
Bogdanovic at the 9:42 mark, his first goal of the year. Miguel
Peralta crossed the ball into the box which then was tipped by
Juan Chang to Bogdanovic in the box.
Bogdanovic had a chance to add to the ORU lead at the 17:52 mark,
but his blast from about 30-yards out was grabbed by UMKC's goalie
Ken Cooper.
The Kangaroos had a quality chance to get an equalizer late in the
first-half, but Kyle Perkins' header just sailed high of the
net.
Niger Portillo one-timed a cross from Peralta to
give the Golden Eagles a 2-0 cushion in the 39th minute.
The Golden Eagles added an insurance goal in the second-half in the
62nd minute when
Vince Tizzone one-timed a cross from Peralta past
UMKC's Cooper for a 3-0 lead. Peralta and Bogdanovic were credited
with the assists.
UMKC finally broke through in the 89th minute, ending ORU's Andrew
Techanchuk's attempt of a shutout. Matt Kopsky set up Kyle
Perkins in the box and Perkins buried the ball in the back of the
net.
Techanchuk finished the night with seven saves in a winning
effort, while UMKC's Cooper had eight saves.
Chang led all Golden Eagles with five shots, four on-goal, and
three more ORU players recorded at least two shots.

edge in corner kicks.
