TULSAFive players scored in double figures as Oral Roberts
University defeated Rogers State 88-76 in the exhibition opener for
both teams, Saturday at Mabee Center.
Moses Ehambe (Arlington, Texas) scored a
game-high 20 points for ORU, which led 50-32 at halftime. Rogers
State, a first-year NAIA program featuring six Division I
transfers, was led by Bryson Krueger's 19 points.
The Golden Eagles limited Rogers State to 44.8 percent shooting in
the first half, but the Hillcats attempted to make a game of it in
the second half by shooting 55.6 percent.
ORU led by as many as 21 points in the second half, but Rogers
State got within eight points late in the game before ORU pulled
away.
Adam Liberty (Oklahoma City, Okla.) enjoyed a
solid night for the Golden Eagles, scoring 17 points on 7-of-8
shooting from the field, including a perfect 3-for-3 from
three-point range. He also added five assists.
Shawn King (Bequia, St. Vincent) scored a
double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds, while Robert
Jarvis (Humble, Texas) scored 11 points, and Marcus
Lewis (Portland, Ore.) added 10 points off the bench.
Aldric Reynolds scored 14 points for Rogers State, while Eric Young
and Abram Donlon each scored 10.
The Golden Eagles shot 53.3 percent for the game, including 52.6
percent (10-19) from 3-point range. Rogers State finished shooting
50 percent, but just 3-of-7 from long range.
The Golden Eagles play their second and final exhibition game
against Upper Iowa, 7:05 p.m., Tuesday at Mabee Center.
