TULSAFour players scored in double figures as Oral Roberts
University cruised to an 86-61 exhibition victory over Upper Iowa,
Tuesday at Mabee Center.
Robert
Jarvis (Humble, Texas) led the Golden Eagles with 15 points as
ORU won the last of its two exhibition games. ORU also defeated
Rogers State, 88-76, last Saturday.
Joining
Jarvis in double figures were Moses
Ehambe (Arlington, Texas) with 14 points; Shawn
King (Bequia, St. Vincent) with 13; and Andre
Hardy (San Diego, Calif.) with 11. Hardy also grabbed a
game-high seven rebounds.
With
freshmen Jonathan Dunn (Toledo, Ohio), Kyron
Stokes (Arlington, Texas) and Hardy in the starting line-up,
ORU raced out to a 19-7 lead with 11:15 to go in the half. The
Golden Eagles led 44-26 at halftime, and expanded their lead to as
many as 38 points (70-32) in the second half.
A.J. Adkins
led Upper Iowa with 18 points, while Matt Lesan added 12 off the
bench.
The Golden
Eagles shot 50 percent (30-60) from the field, but just 26.1
percent (6-23) from 3-point range. ORU limited Upper Iowa to 45.7
percent shooting, which included an 8-for-16 effort from 3-point
range.
ORU forced
the Peacocks into 31 turnovers, while picking up 20 steals. The
Golden Eagles owned a slim 34-29 edge in rebounds.
ORU opens
the regular season when they host Southwestern Oklahoma State, 7:05
p.m., Friday at Mabee Center.
