ORU Set To Begin Road Swing Against Western Illinois

The Tip

The Golden Eagles are looking to revenge their loss to Western Illinois earlier this season in Tulsa today as they take on the Westerwinds at Western Hall ... This starts the beginning of the second half of Mid-Con regular season play as the Golden Eagles look to move up in the standings ... ORU is coming off a tough loss in overtime to Oakland this past Monday, a loss that ended the Golden Eagles three game winning streak ... Last season, the Golden Eagles defeated Western Illinois in Macomb, breaking the nation�€™s longest home court win streak (men or women) at 46 games on Jan. 7, 2006.


The Coaches

ORU head coach Jerry Finkbeiner is in his 11th season at the helm of the Golden Eagle program. Already the school�€™s all-time wins leader, Finkbeiner has amassed a 168-142 (.542) record at ORU while also holding a 367-176 (.676) overall mark in 18 total seasons as a head coach. On the other side is head coach Leslie Crane ... Crane has led the Westerwinds to a 148-101 (.594) overall record in nine years at the helm of the program ... She has guided WIU to a 91-38 (.705) overall Mid-Con mark during that time period.


Scouting Western Illinois

The Westerwinds come into this game with a 8-13 overall record and a 4-3 Mid-Con mark ... They are currently tied for third in the league�€™s standings ... WIU split their last pair of Mid-Con games last weekend as they beat UMKC in Kansas City, 50-38, but fell to Southern Utah, 50-46, in Cedar City ... Western is led in scoring by Amanda Walker who averages 10.5 points and 4.0 boards a game ... Walker is dangerous from long range, making 39-of-90 from beyond the arc ... Stephanie Lovingood is another scoring threat, netting 9.1 points a contest and leading the team with 7.0 rebounds ... The Westerwinds are a low scoring team averaging 56.0 points a game.


The Series

The Westerwinds hold a slight lead in the overall series at 12-11 ... With the last win by WIU in Tulsa, the two conference rivals have traded wins six contests ... ORU defeated WIU 47-37 last season at Western Hall but the Westerwinds defeated the Golden Eagles in Tulsa, 68-56.
