SAN FRANCISCO The Golden Eagles volleyball team (2-3)
opened up the PowerAde/Asics Classic with a loss to tournament host
San Francisco (3-1), falling in three games, 23-30, 25-30, 26-30.
Oliveira
led all hitters with19 kills and five digs, collecting 20 of ORU's
overall points. The Minas Gerais, Brazil native has now tallied
double-digit kills in all of ORU's matches. Junior Danijela
Novakovic finished the match with eight kills and two blocks
for the Golden Eagles. Junior-transfer Janete Ferreiera registered
three service aces on the night, a season-high for the Sao Paulo,
Brazil native.

Parada made her season-debut for ORU, finishing the night with
two kills and 15 assists, while freshman Jocelyn
Swier continues to improve, hitting .625 on the night with five
kills.
The
Dons found two players with double-digit kills Sarah Mandala
and Carly Babin each collected 12 kills against the Golden Eagles,
helping USF to a .455 hitting percentage on the night.
USF
finished the night with 20 total blocks to ORU's eight, while the
Golden Eagles dished out eight service aces compared to the Don's
five.
ORU
returns to the court Saturday afternoon as they take on Eastern
Washington at 3 p.m., followed by a 7 p.m. match-up with Colgate to
conclude the tournament.
