ORU moves to 3-0 in Conference Play with 77-57 Win over Centenary

SHREVEPORT, La. - With four ORU starters scoring in double-digits, the ORU women's basketball team (9-5, 3-0 Summit League) was able to come away with a win over the Centenary Ladies (3-10, 0-3 Summit League).

Junior Jenny Hardin finished with a game-high 21 points, 15 of those in the first half, while grabbing five boards and sneaking in for two steals. Junior Mariana Camargo was near a career-high in scoring with 19 points, five steals and four assists.

Junior Rachel Watman was 2-for-3 from behind the arc and 50 percent from field-goal range with 12 points and dished out seven assists, while Janae Voelker snagged her third double-double of the season with 10 points and 12 boards.

Bethany Joseph led the way for Centenary, nailing 5-of-9 three-pointers for the Ladies, while Michelle Hale was able to score 11 points and nine boards.

ORU forced Centenary to 25 turnovers while only committing seven themselves and grabbing 17 steals to the Ladies' two.

The Golden Eagles found the rim on almost every possession in the opening minutes of the game, opening with a 12-2 run with 15:59 left in the first half. In those first four minutes, Rachel Watman collected three steals and two assists, while ORU forced Centenary to six turnovers.

Centenary would make a run of its own, scoring five-straight points before Kelly Kindell would hit her ninth trey of the season to extend the Golden Eagle lead to 14 with 11:51 to go. With 7:38 left to play, Jenny Hardin would hit a hot streak, scoring eight of ORU's last 10 points to give the Golden Eagles the 27-14 advantage.

In the final minutes of the first half, freshman Leanne Robison would make her first appearance for the Golden Eagles since going down during the November 13 Tulsa game in the. Both teams would trade points for the remainder of the first half until Centenary's Bethany Joseph and Karolina Zaloga would hit back-to-back three-pointers to send both teams into the locker room with ORU holding the 41-28 lead.

ORU would open half number two on a 9-1 run before the Ladies would make their own 7-2 run to get within 13 points of the Golden Eagles with 15:38 left to go. Mariana Camargo would turn a two-point play into a three-point play, nailing a layup and getting the foul at the 12:29 mark with ORU holding a 60-44 lead.

Centenary would go on a 7-0 run with to close ORU's lead to nine - 60-51 - with the help of Bethany Joseph's fifth three of the game, but Mariana Camargo would get ORU back to a double-digit lead with a steal and layup to go back up by 11.

ORU would go on a 13-2 run with back-to-back baskets by Camargo and Kelly Kindell's third trey of the game to open up the Golden Eagles lead to 20-points, their largest lead of the afternoon and would end the ballgame with a 77-57 win over the Ladies.

Up next for the Golden Eagles are trips to Rochester, Mich., and Fort Wayne, Ind., to take on Oakland and IPFW on Saturday, Jan. 12 and Monday, Jan. 14.
