ORU Volleyball Falls At IPFW

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Oral Roberts volleyball team lost a three-set match (20-25, 23-25, 22-25) at IPFW Friday evening in Fort Wayne. The loss snapped the Golden Eagles five-match winning streak and their eight-match conference winning streak as well.

ORU falls to 16-7 overall and 9-2 in the Summit League while IPFW evens its record to 12-12 overall and improves to 8-3 in conference action. The Golden Eagles are now 4-1 against the Mastodons.

The Golden Eagles were led by senior outside hitter Danijela Novakovic (Rijeka, Croatia) who recorded 10 kills, while senior outside hitter Janete Ferreira (Sao Paulo, Brazil) posted a double-double with 10 kills and 11 digs. Junior setter Juliane Vieira (Sao Paulo, Brazil) registered 24 assists and senior libero Carol Garbato (Sao Paulo, Brazil) added 13 digs. Freshman right side hitter Serena Cate (Yorba Linda, Calif.) added a career-high 11 digs.

IPFW was led by Jessica Miller's 13 kills, while Rebekah Roehm tallied nine kills and 10 digs. Jaime Schwartz added 20 digs for the Mastodon's while Jessica Dominiak registered 24 assists and Kylee Hervey posted a match-high seven blocks (two solo).

The Mastodons out-hit the Golden Eagles .252-.195 and out-blocked them 20-10 but the Golden Eagles recorded six more digs (67-61), two more assists (42-40) and two more kills (44-42).

ORU continues action on the road Saturday, Nov. 1, facing Oakland at 6 p.m. (CT).
