FARGO, N.D.Three players scored in double figures as North
Dakota State handed Oral Roberts University a 68-55 Summit League
setback, Saturday at the Bison Sports Arena.
ORU concludes the regular season at 21-8 overall and 16-2 in Summit
League play. The Golden Eagles are the No. 1 seed for next
weekend's Summit League Tournament, where they will be looking for
their third straight title. North Dakota State, ineligible for the
tournament, ends its season at 16-13 and 10-8.
Ben Woodside led all scorers with 19 points on 6-of-17 shooting
from the field. He also added six assists and four rebounds. Brett
Winkleman scored 18 points and Mike Nelson chipped in 14
points.
Adam Liberty (Oklahoma City, Okla.) led ORU with
12 points, but was just 4-of-12 from the field. He was the only
Golden Eagle to score in double figures.
North Dakota State limited ORU to 32.1 percent shooting in the
first half when the Bison raced to a 29-19 halftime lead. The
Golden Eagles got within eight points twice, the last coming on a
Yemi Ogunoye (Cedar Hill, Texas) three-pointer to
make it 32-24 with 19:03 left.
NDSU's lead grew to as many as 20 points when a three-pointer by
Woodside made it 61-41 with 1:57 to play.
The Golden Eagles shot 37.7 percent for the game, compared to 45.1
percent for NDSU. The Bison owned a slight edge in rebounding,
36-35.
ORU opens Summit League Tournament action when they face No. 8
seed Centenary, 6 p.m., Saturday at the UMAC at John Q. Hammons
Arena.
