UC-Riverside Downs ORU, 3-1

LAS VEGAS – Oral Roberts University men's soccer team opened the UNLV Nike Invitational on Friday night with a 3-1 loss to UC-Riverside. With the loss, the Golden Eagles drop to 1-3 on the season, while the Highlanders improve to 1-4 overall.

Jeremy Clay put UC-Riverside on the board first at the 5:16 mark off of a cross from Xavier Perez.

ORU evened the contest in the 28th minute as freshman Taylor Cluff (Plano, Texas) headed a shot in from Josh Erickson (Anoka, Minn). The goal was Cluff's second of the season.

UC-Riverside went into halftime with a 2-1 advantage, as Cesar Diaz converted from 10 yards out on an assist from Robert Cate at the 43:31 mark.

The Highlanders would add insurance at the 68:26 mark, as Cate tapped in a cross from Diaz.

UC-Riverside edged ORU in shots by a 13-10 margin.

The Golden Eagles will wrap up the tournament against UNLV at 3 p.m. on Sunday.
