- The Oral Roberts University volleyball team lost at
North Dakota State, 3-1 (22-25, 25-19, 25-22, 25-21) Saturday
evening at the Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse. ORU is now 7-5 overall
and 1-1 in Summit League action while NDSU improves to 7-3 overall
and 1-0 in conference play. The Golden Eagles are now 3-3 all-time
against the Bison.
Senior middle
blocker JoJo
Souza (
Sao Paulo, Brazil) led ORU with 12 kills and four block assists as
she hit .417 on the evening. Senior outside hitter Danijela
Novakovic (Rijeka, Croatia) tallied 10 kills while senior
rightside hitter Jackie
Oliveira (Minas Gerais, Brazil) was just short of her
third-straight double-double of the season with nine kills and 15
digs.
NDSU was led by
Brooke VandenBergh's 15 kills while Jennifer Lopez tallied 12 kills
and Kristen Hill registered a double-double with 12 kills and 12
digs on the night.
ORU finished the
match with a .183 hitting percentage as compared to a .228 hitting
percentage for NDSU. The Bison recorded seven more kills (60-53),
and five more blocks (17-12) while the Golden Eagles tallied four
more digs (69-65).
The Golden Eagles
return home next weekend to host their conference home-opener
against Oakland and IPFW. ORU faces OU on Fri., Sept. 26 at 7 p.m.
and then battles IPFW on Sat., Sept. 27 at 7 p.m.
