SPRINGFIELD, Mo.-Missouri State defeated Oral Roberts, 3-1, in
men's soccer action on Wednesday at Plaster Field, snapping ORU's
four-game winning streak.
The Bears (7-3-2) set the tone early, scoring a pair of goals in
the game's first 15 minutes. Paul Paradise gave Missouri State a
1-0 lead when he headed in a free kick by Edin Sabic at 3:42.
Kyle Windmueller scored from 15 yard out for a 2-0 lead at 14:32,
with Jordan Hoffman getting the assist.
Missouri State essentially put the game away just after the start
of the second half when Ryan Hennessey scored on another header at
47:20.
The Golden Eagles (6-5-1) scored their lone goal when
Gary Arauz
knocked in a free kick from 10 yards out at 85:53.
ORU out-shot Missouri State, 13-12, but Bears goalkeeper Alex Riggs
made three saves. ORU keeper
Andrew Techanchuk stopped four
shots.
The Golden Eagles return to action when they host Summit League foe
UMKC, 7 p.m., Saturday at ORU Soccer Complex.
