FT. WAYNE, Ind.Oral Roberts University shot just 33.3 percent
from the field, including 2-of-20 from three-point range, in
suffering a 74-65 Summit League defeat to IPFW, Saturday at
Memorial Coliseum.
The loss was ORU's second straight in league play and drops the
Golden Eagles to 11-13 overall and 9-3 in Summit League action.
IPFW improves to 10-14 and 5-8.
Deilvez Yearby and Zach Plackemeier combined to score 45 points for
the Mastodons, including 31 in the first half when IPFW built a
37-25 lead at the break. For the game Plackemeier scored 22 points
and grabbed seven rebounds, while Yearby had 24 points, 10 boards
and seven blocked shots.
Freshman
Dominique Morrison (Kansas City, Mo.) led ORU
with 18 points, including a 10-for-10 effort from the free throw
line. He added a season-high eight rebounds, three steals and two
assists.
The Golden Eagles trailed the entire second half, but scored six
points in 27 seconds to pull within 61-57 on a Kelvin
Sango (Tulsa, Okla.) steal and layup with 1:48 to play. But
Sango was called for his fifth foul on a loose ball situation just
12 seconds later, and received a technical foul after slapping the
floor while lying on his stomach.

Scott Sutton also received a technical from the
same official after protesting both calls, and IPFW made
four-of-six free throws for a 65-57 lead. ORU never got closer than
six points the rest of the way.
Robert Jarvis (Humble, Texas) scored 15 points
for ORU, but endured one of the worst shooting nights of his
career. The senior guard was 6-of-20 from the field, including
1-for-10 from three-point range, and just 2-for-5 from the free
throw line.
Marcus Lewis (Long Beach, Calif.) chipped in with
10 points, and
Kevin Ford (Portland, Ore.) grabbed a game-high
11 rebounds.
The Golden Eagles return home next Thursday to host Western
Illinois at 7:05 p.m. in Mabee Center.
